Reasons why Norfolk makes a great holiday destination, from activities to restaurants.
Norfolk has an abundance of things to see and do, as well as places to eat and drink, it’s a one-stop-shop. From award winning restaurants and beaches to walking trails, family activities and places to recoup and relax, Norfolk should be top of your list to visit in 2022 if you’re opting for a UK based holiday.

What area should I stay?
Norfolk is split into different areas, these include:
North Norfolk
North Norfolk has over 45 miles of beautiful coastline. Many of the beaches are Blue Flag, meaning they have a high standard of cleanliness and safety, perfect for families. Inland, you can find an extensive range of rural villages producing locally produced seasonal dishes. Here you can find an abundance of seaside holiday cottages.
West Norfolk
Is home to farmland and coastlines, both of which offer a great place to explore and unwind. Perfect for adventurers as it contains vibrant villages such as Burnham Market and Sandringham.
The Norfolk Broads
The Norfolk Broads is one of the UK’s National Parks. It boasts beautiful landscapes, diverse wildlife and miles upon miles of rivers and waterways. Staying in a holiday cottage near the Norfolk Broads means you can explore the water by boat during the day and relax in the property during the evening. Holiday cottages tend to be a little further inland, but boast easy access to magical waterways and a tranquil part of Norfolk.
Norwich
Norwich is a bustling city full of history. Explore the artisan shops and markets, or head out on the town, perfect if you’re looking for something a little more urban!
Mid Norfolk and The Brecks
An area often overlooked is Mid-Norfolk & The Brecks, but it’s a wonderfully peaceful, rural and a great option to explore all that Norfolk has to offer due to the great road links.
As you can see there are many great areas to choose from. The great thing about Norfolk is many of the areas are accessible and all within an hour’s drive, so wherever you choose as your base, you can enjoy everything it has to offer.

Some of the beaches along the Norfolk coast have been named best in the whole of the UK and for good reasons! The blue skies and the never-ending horizons make the beaches a must-visit during any season.
In the winter, seal pups can be seen at Horsey which is part of The Broads National Park. Hunstanton and West Runton are great for those who love fossil searching and if sandy beaches are for you then Holkham, Brancaster and Cromer are great choices.

Places to eat and drink
Norfolk is known for its amazing produce. From fresh Sherrington strawberries to Brancaster oysters and Cromer crab, there is something for everyone! There are restaurants and pubs all over the county which use the very best that Norfolk has to offer, including all the local producers and small businesses.
The Ship in Reedham has riverside views of The Broads. No1 Fish and Chips in Cromer is known for having some of the best fish and chips in the town. For West Norfolk, places such as Socius in Burnham Market and The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe are both known for being some of the best places to eat along the Norfolk coast. Norfolk is an ideal place to visit if you are a foodie, there are countless places to try all over the county and we’re positive you will leave dreaming of your next Norfolk dish!
Family fun
Are you thinking about coming to Norfolk with the children? Do it! It’s as simple as that! There is a huge variety of activities, attractions and sheer, wholesome family fun to be had. Don’t forget those four-legged friends too! The area is super pet friendly with the best Norfolk dog-friendly beaches you could hope for.
We would highly recommend visiting Pensthorpe Natural Park if you’re around North Norfolk for a few days as the kids would love the play areas the park has to offer, as well as roaming free and exploring the wonderful wildlife. The beach is always a must too and the North Norfolk steam railway which runs from Sheringham to Holt. If you’re heading towards The Norfolk Broads, then a visit to Wroxham Barns or BeWILDerwood should be at the top of your list.
History, wildlife and all that’s in between
Norfolk has some of the most incredible stately homes and halls in the country. (It’s even called home to the Royals!) A trip to the likes of Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Oxborough Hall, Holkham Hall and of course, Sandringham Estate is a must if you love grandeur! Each stately home and hall also run a huge variety of events throughout the year which are great for the little ones!
If you’re a bird lover then bird watching in Cley is a must. Exploring the rare types amongst the long marshes is a sport loved by many tourists and residents in North Norfolk.
Active days
Are you looking for somewhere where you can shake off the cobwebs and get active? Norfolk is well known for a huge variety of sports, why not base this around your holiday. From golfing in Sheringham and Brancaster to paddleboarding out to Blakeney Point and along the Norfolk Broads, there is a huge offering out there for those who seek adventurers, perfect if you are staying in some north Norfolk self-catering accommodation.
You could also try kite surfing on Hunstanton Beach, seal watching from Morston, or book a tubing session at the Norfolk Snowsports Club…..there really is something for all ages and abilities!
