Sheringham Park
Take A Trip To Sheringham Park
Sheringham Park, managed by the National Trust, is a quintessential 1,000-acre park featuring an array of landscapes including rolling woodlands, sweeping coastal views, and an interesting mix of flora and history. It promises visitors plenty of opportunities for exploration and relaxation throughout the year.
The park is renowned in the spring for its Rhododendron and Azalea displays, which create breathtakingly colourful scenes around the park. One of our favourite spots to view this spectacular blanket of colours is from the gazebo within the woodlands, accessible from one of the main pathways. The tower offers wonderful views across the canopy and is perfect for taking photos and enjoying a moment of serenity.
Sheringham Park is an ideal location not only for scenic trails, birdwatching, and wildlife spotting but also for families and history enthusiasts alike. There are regular seasonal events such as Easter Egg trails, family fun days, family photoshoots, Halloween trails, and Christmas festivities. These events are affordable and great fun for all ages while providing a chance to run off some energy in one of Norfolk’s most stunning settings.
For those interested in local history, Sheringham Park has plenty to offer. The park was designed by Humphrey Repton, who had a glorious vision for the park and Sheringham Hall, which was redesigned by his son, John Adey, around 1813. Although the hall is not open to the public, it is a wonderful landmark in the park and boasts a rich history.
If you’re a parkrun fan, Sheringham Park hosts a Saturday morning 5k parkrun at 9 am, locally known as one of the tougher parkruns in the area due to the slightly hilly terrain. It’s a great way to explore the area before the family is up and ready for the day.
A visit to Sheringham Park wouldn’t be complete without a hot drink and baked treat, which are available in the park’s tearoom. There’s also a visitor centre, plenty of picnic benches, and some great spots around the area for relaxing and enjoying the fresh Norfolk air.
If you’re looking for a great walk with views that are hugely family-friendly (and ideal for little bike riders, though you may end up dragging the bike back to the car), then Sheringham Park is a must-visit.
