Redwings Horse Sanctuary

The UKs Largest Horse Sanctuary

There are so many wonderful things to do in Norfolk. From beautiful beaches, winding woodlands and lavish landscapes, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to the Norfolk countryside. If you’re an animal lover though, one of the best places to visit is Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Aylsham.

What is Redwings?

Situated in Aylsham between Norwich and the North Norfolk coastline, Redwings is a sanctuary for rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. They have almost 90 equines for you to meet including real-life ‘Black Beauty’ Maya, and a whole troop of miniature Shetland ponies known as ‘The Gangsters’ who can’t wait to say hello.

Just 12 miles from the centre of Norwich, Redwings Aylsham is situated off the A140 junction at Henry Page Road, Aylsham. Postcode: NR11 6UE.

Redwings hosts a selection of activities through the summer months for children and families and they also welcome dogs kept on leads throughout the pastures.

In 2019 Redwings were awarded two accolades including the “Visit England” award and Muddy Stilettos Best Family Attraction in Norfolk!

The Aylsham branch of this Horse Sanctuary is open 7 days a week between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm. While Covid restrictions have been lifted in England, Redwings still offer a pre-bookable ticket system to ensure the number of people at the centre remains at a certain level – keeping you and the horse care team safe. Entry to this attraction is free, but gratefully accept donations when booking to directly support their rescued horses and ponies.
