What To Do Near North Walsham When It's Raining!

JR Stompers

For a fun family day out, head to JR Stompers. This venue offers a mix of dining, bowling, and soft play. Younger children will love the expansive indoor (and outdoor) soft play area, while older family members can enjoy the bowling lanes. There’s an American style diner there too for when you get a little peckish.

Redwings

Redwings is located just outside Aylsham, which is a 10-15minute drive from North Walsham. The centre is home to around 70 horsey residents which visitors can enjoy, feed and learn about. The centre is a horse sanctuary charity, well known for rescuing and rehoming horses and donkeys. A great visit with a spacious cafe, shop and small play area.

Cromer Cinema

Just a 20minute drive from the centre of North Walsham is Cromer’s recently refurbished Regal Movieplex cinema which offers an array of films and times for all ages. It’s an ideal destination for when the rain really starts pouring.

This Jacobean mansion is a National Trust estate offering a plethora of activities, adventures, café and a shop, making it perfect for unpredictable weather. Explore the house, admire the 55 acres of formal garden or enjoy the 4,600 acres of woodland come rain or shine. You may like to book into the local pub, Buckinghamshire Arms, to refuel before your return home.

Bure Valley Railway

Another great attraction near Aylsham, just a 15minute drive away, is Bure Valley Railway. This is a fantastic option for steam train enthusiasts and kids alike. Enjoy an 18mile round trip from Aylsham to Wroxham and back, meandering through the Bure valley, meadowlands and scenic country landscapes. What’s more, the Bure Valley Railway boasts some vibrant events throughout the year which are worth keeping an eye on.
