Fat Cow

Salmons Land, Thorpland Road, Fakenham, NR21 0HA

The Fat Cow serves delicious burgers and ice cream in a beautiful wild flower meadow setting just on the outskirts of Fakenham. Open Thursday to Sunday 12-9pm throughout the spring and summer months, their local grass-fed beef burgers are definitely worth trying!

With delicious toppings and specialities such as crispy bacon, Binham Blue cheese and a signature sauce there is something for everyone to enjoy. They also have a great kids menu and are dog friendly. What better way to spend a summers evening than enjoying an ice cream and local beverage whilst your children play in a meadow?

Sculthorpe Mill

Lynn Road, Fakenham, NR21 9QG

Sculthorpe Mill is a stunning converted 18th century watermill deep in the heart of the Norfolk countryside.  Open for breakfast Monday to Saturday 8am til 10am, lunch Monday to Sunday 12pm – 2.30pm and evening meals Monday to Saturday 6-8pm and 5-7.30pm on Sundays, there is a time and day for everyone to enjoy a delicious meal in the beautiful surroundings.

Head chef Elliot Ketley takes full advantage of the beautiful surroundings, using fresh, local produce to create tasty menus which often include Cromer crabs, local beef and venison, and in season local vegetables. Serving everything from morning pastries, to fine dining and classic pub menus, there is something for everyone to indulge in. They are also dog friendly and have a great kids menu with lots of options.

Crawfish Inn

Holt Road, Thursford, Fakenham, NR21 0BJ

 If you fancy a Thai – then look no further than the Crawfish Inn. Creating authentic Thai cuisine by sourcing the finest ingredients from Thailand, the Crawfish Inn has a range of delicious dishes to try. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm, and open on all bank holidays, the 1833 Victorian pub exterior hides a Norfolk country inn interior with a twist of Thailand.

As the only Free House in the pretty village of Thursford, they also serve a wide range of local beverages from draught beers to wine. Welcoming dogs in their beer garden, the whole family can enjoy an evening out. If you don’t fancy venturing out, and would prefer to eat in your holiday cottage, they also offer takeaways from their extensive menu.

We admit, this isn’t a sit-down restaurant or eatery. However if you are visiting or staying in Fakenham it would be a great opportunity to visit their very own chocolate factory!

Kinnerton Chocolate Factory Shop in Fakenham may be best recognised for their vegan & free from range, Nomo, or their children’s chocolate ranges from chocolate lollies to advent calendars

The Chocolate Factory Shop provides easy access to their range of products, and you can take your haul away back to your cottage, for a cosy night with a blanket in front of a movie.

Drifters Fish & Chips

20 Oak Street, Fakenham, NR21 9DY

Drifters sits directly opposite the Tesco superstore, next to Fakenham library. They’re open in the evening on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and for lunch and dinner on Thursday to Saturday.

Drifters provide a sit-in or takeaway option, perfect for bringing back to your self-catering cottage. Sometimes all you need is a chip supper on the sofa in front of some comfort TV, and Drifters are the perfect option for this.
