Cley-next-the-Sea is one of Norfolk’s most charming coastal villages and has an international reputation for its nearby bird reserve and the salt marshes that run along this stretch of the coast between Weybourne and Blakeney.

Next up is Blakeney which is another favourite destination. Brought alive by the wonderful cottage architecture, colourful homes and busy harbour, Blakeney is popular all year around with both tourists and residents. This endearing village is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and it’s easy to see why whilst wandering the narrow village streets and exploring the creeks out towards Blakeney Point.

In Cley-next-the-sea there are 2 lovely pubs with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying the colourful summer’s evening skies. There is also a brilliant delicatessen, a famous smokehouse, an art gallery, a café and a magnificent 14th Century church, alongside an iconic windmill which offers fine dining during the evening. One of North Norfolk‘s most attractive and vibrant coastal villages!

Blakeney is well loved for spotting seals, crabbing with the family, ice cream trips, setting off on paddleboards and kayaks to navigate the creeks, coastal walks and wonderful dining options. Whilst it is a quaint coastal village, it is well equipped with a small supermarket, children’s playground, cafes, pubs, gift shops, delicatessen, tennis courts, garage and a 13-15th-century church with two towers.

Perfect for: Families, walkers and wildlife lovers!

Don’t miss: Blakeney Point is a must-see! It’s one of Norfolk’s nature reserves and throughout the year is host to England’s largest colony of grey seals. Throughout June- August these seals have their pups and a number of boat trips are available to take you to visit at a safe distance.

Our favourite places: The salt marshes and nature reserve, are great places to relax and enjoy the surroundings. One of our all-time favourites for a meal after exploring is The George and Dragon.

Events: Both Blakeney and Cley-next-to-sea have exciting and popular local events that happen all year round including workshops, markets and Christmas light displays. If you want something a little more exciting, just a short drive away Blickling Hall often hosts popular music events with big names like Lionel Richie.
